Story of a e-mail system project:

A few days ago, I saw a discount for new domains in Go Daddy. It was only 1$ and I bought a domain for our student organization. Even our website is not ready yet, I set up a mail system with Yandex's helping. I wish it will help us in our process of institutionalization.
Also, when we posted e-mail to our contacts, it could be a good impression for us. On the other hand, we have hundreds of member and I wasn't know how to organize it. Then, I decided to take an account which called (By the way, Turkish word "destek" means support.). After that, I identified a label which sends an e-mail like: "We have taken your request. We'll give this e-mail to you if it is suitable. Then, I checked this "destek" mailbox and give e-mail accounts to users manually. But, my answers is in automatic e-mail format. I identify random passwords with helping my random keyboard touchings. One day, I'll write my own code for do this automatically and I am going to not do this on my own.

C Programming Courses in ESOGU

As I mentioned earlier, I am a member of IEEE Student Branch organization in my university. Our student branch has decided to giving C Programming Courses to help freshman students their "Introduction to Programming" courses.
During the two months period, I realized this teaching stuff is harder than I expected. Even if you know something else, sometimes that will not enough. On the other hand, I like it. Because in this process, I've learned a lot of new things and do some C programming practice.
I would like to say thanks to all my students, I wish these courses could help to love programming.

Well, still you can obtain my old documents from my Skydrive:
Note: In this process, I used Visual Studio C++ as a C complier. It requires a little trick. You have to change file extension ".cpp" with ".c". If you didn't download Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, you should download from here:

When I was thirteen...

It's a photo of my first website designing experience, small photo but still you can see some funny details. For example, "Impossible is nothing". In that days, I think it was using on an adidas commercial and it affected me but it could not be used on a stupid game website. It was a kind of football games website. I was trying to design kits for Turkish teams. It was also my first photoshop experience. On the contrary, I had never used it on my website design as you see. In that times, Frontpage seems to me fantastic and so easy. I was love WordArts. I always trying to reach all the world, not stay in local. As a result of that, I designed it also English when I was 13. I found it from Google. You can also enter this links:

Sweet November for Programming

This month, I'm going to participate two important programming event. First one will be Android Workshop on Ankara. It's a workshop which a project of EESTEC LC Ankara and GDG Ankara. I have already went to Android Develeoper Days event project of GDG Ankara and it was so helpful to introduction level Android enviroment. I hope this event also going to be fascinating for me.
Second one is a global Microsoft event. After the Windows 8's release, new Microsoft Market has a necessity for new applications. WOWZAPP 2012 is a event to give a change programmers for new market. It will be my first Microsoft experience and I am wondering what's sounds like. Briefly, I was a fan of Android but after Windows 8's revolution, I am confused. On the other hand, I have to finish Acikakademi Windows 8 lessons before the event, it could be hard for me.

Water problems between United States and Canada:Two neighboring countries can’t share water supplies

In 21st century, world’s natural environment is started to change. Also, human population is increasing ultimately and some countries facing some problems in resource management. “Water” is the one of these resources. Water is the main substance of human being. Human race requires water to quench one’s thirst, cleaning and many many main activities. Clearly result of this, governments which main object is meet the needs have to supply water to their citizens.

On the contrary, some countries do not have enough water supplies for their people. Some countries like Saudi Arabia must import water due to haven’t got enough water supplies for their citizens. On the other hand, some countries like Canada exporting water. Linda Duffin (2006) notes that “Canada has, by some estimates, up to 20% of the world’s fresh water supplies and only 0,5% of the world’s population.”. In addition, United States was not bad for this water situation in the past but because of some reasons, United States started to export water from their neighbor: Canada. Canada and United States have got one of the most unguarded borders in the World. Due to the fact that, this border area’s big part is water and it’s called Great Lakes Region. This region is including Superior Lake which is the biggest lake of the World after Aral Lake, Huron Lake, Erie Lake, Ontario Lake and finally Michigan Lake which in United States. Great Lakes Region has got great fresh water supplying and of course results of this, United States and Canada governments had to make agreements in this sensitive fresh water sharing situation. Boundary Waters Treaty and North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) can be showed for to regulate water problems between United States and Canada. Unfortunately, some communities do not looking good to these agreements and due to this condition Canada and United States have some problems for about water issues.

Actually, Canada and United States do not have bad relations. Approximately $400 billion per year is the volume of border trade between these countries. Due to the Middle East crisis, Canada is gain importance for about United States’ energy importing situation. As a result of that, they are facing environmental problems including water. These problems can be solved with cooperative working. The International Joint Commission giving a chance for solves these problems to United States and Canada. The Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement and the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909 signed with this commission’s activities. Unfortunately, these two countries have got not only water problems. Canadian animals which closed United States’ can be given for an example between two countries problems. Clearly results of this, there are also other agreements between these countries for solve trading and environmental problems of course. Up to these days, Canadians are more satisfied than Americans but United States’ behaviors to Canada are changed. In those days, Americans policy for about this situation is more aggressive than older policies in their history. As a natural result of this, discords between United States and Canada will be raised in the future.

In October 21, 2007, Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper said we are working on a “national water strategy”. On the contrary, instead of this, government is continued to trading water with United States. In April 2007, Canadian and American governments are signed a treatment about water: North American Future 2025 Project. Also, two countries were talking about “water transfers”. After that, House of Commons are agreed this treatment 134 to 108.

The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River are the most largest fresh water supplier of world. Only these two regions is resolve 45 million people’s water needing. Also, they are solving 50% of Americans water needing. In addition, Agriculture of Canada’s 25% is depends this two source. People want migrate to regions which have enough water supplies since many many years. Because of that, Ontario side of the Great Lakes population is increased due to immigration from Somalia, Sudan, China and India.

Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement is a chance for regulate the management of the Great Lakes. On the contrary, due to the United States which a superpower, there are always a force to regulate conditions. For instance, Annex 2001 which represented by Council of Great Lakes Governors, could be complementary for the Great Lakes Charter. It could be determine a standard for water diversion. Annex created for protect to Great Lakes. On the contrary, main target was giving the permission to exporting water from Great Lakes. There was no sign for this condition’s effects.

When looked to Canada from Americans side, Americans only see great green lands, natural resources, lakes and rivers. On the other hand, Canada’s north have extremely cold climate. Clearly, Canada can be looked from outside like a heaven but reality is not this. Also, Canada can be endowed with lakes and rivers these are true but this situation should not bring an idea to people like all of them available for fresh water. Although Canada has great opportunities for about water situation, this isn’t same thing as renewability. If human race don’t stop draining water from this resources, eventually it will shrink. However, there also renewable resources depend on raining and snowing. But, this is a natural equality system and effects which made from humanity can turn this equality to inequality.

In other words, Canada is famous as a water rich in the world but there can be water problems even Canada. For instance, Lake Superior’s water levels are decreased because of the water diverted from Chicago canal to Lake Mississippi. Canadians have a consciousness in these situations. For example, when it rains, you cannot irrigate your farm. But due to these protections, Canada can be facing with water problem in the future because of the water exportation and global warming which effects raining and snowing frequency.

United States is one of the most industrialized countries of the world. Natural result of this, United States are facing with environmental problems. Water problem is coming through first. California and Arizona states which supplying their recommend from Colorado River are facing water problem that days. In addition, as Vegas state which supplying their water resource from Lake Mead are facing in water supplying problem due to Lake Mead’s shrinking.

United States government had to solve this water problem but instead of the protecting their water and making plans for about water protection and make their people more consciousness they choose easy way, export water from their neighbor Canada. On the contrary, United States is not fully unfair in this water problem. Because, Canada has got great water supplies and they have enough water for their people. United States government wants export water from Canada. Importing from Canada is not a new thing for United States. Canada export even oil to United States and this is not in small amounts on the contrary huge amounts even more than Saudi Arabia. Not only oil, Canada also exports natural gas and uranium to United States. These resources are going to finite in the future. On the contrary, water is renewable.

Most of Americans trust North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). United States can be used their rights which depends on this agreement. But Canadians don’t trust Americans in these environmental situations. United States is in a struggle for their benefits in this water problem. In this struggle, Americans favorite gun is media power. Wikileaks documents improve this. United States government always serving news to media for about Canada’s great resources but also adding this: “Although United States in drought some estimates, Canada doesn’t want to share their water with United States.”. In these days, Americans moves are working. International Joint Commission is affected from United States’ pressing and their decisions.

When we looked objectively, both sides have a point. Firstly, we look as a Canadian. United States is a country which usually doesn’t care about these environmental situations up to the facing problems. As Shyrban writes that if they are not managing water properly in the U.S and they run out, it’s no answer to simply divert Canadian water. Canada exporting all their natural resources to United States and one day these resources are going to be finished. Contrary to common belief, water is one of these finite resources. As mentioned about before in this article, immigration, global warming and American’s water importing come through in the reason of water shrinking. Also, in Canada’s north, water problem can be appeared in the future. Because, Canada’ North which closer to North Pole is completely rainless. If Canada cannot protect their water, one day even Canada will be facing with drought problems.

When we look as an American, we can see Canadians are not completely right. In some estimates, United States having drought problems and their neighbor is world’s water rich: Canada. Also, United States, Canada and Mexico signed North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and Americans have rights from this treatment. Even United States government is faulty, as Steven Shrybman has noted “Water needs to be regarded as a fundamental human right not as a commodity.”

To sum up, these water problems between United States and Canada have not an extremely hard solution. Because, two countries are in cooperation from many years and it’s a win win situation. It’s true, Canada can be face with drought in the future but if it is happens, the entire world will be worse than Canada and eventually Canada will share their water. On the other hand, Canada must have to take money for it, of course. But, environment problems are more important than money. Because of that, Canadians should give their water to Americans but both countries should make laws to protect their water. Not just this, of course. Also, American and Canadian people should have a consciousness for about these water problems and governments have to start working on this subject immediately. Last of all, Canada and United States not are enemies, they are neighbor and both countries can share fresh water supplies but in addition to these, both countries have to protect water and they make laws preventing wastage of water.

Android Developer Days - 2012 May 21-22 - Turkey/Ankara

After the Android's hilarious rising in smart phones, developing on Android has getting more important. Natural result of this, most of country are organized their developing days. On the other hand, there was no move until GTUG (Ankara Google Technology User Group)'s conference. You should get more information about this Android Developer Days from here. Unluckily, I am not able to attend computer based application sessions because of my problems which about my laptop.
I gave a present in this conference, a book: Professional Android 2 Application Development, Reto Meier.
Also, you can reach my comments about sessions but generally that conference was very informative about Android.
I attended these sessions:

First Day

Huawei Session - The things that Smartphones have changed in our life and Future of Android - Bilgin Demir

That was an interesting presentation experience. We have a chance for win some presents from Huawei. That's interesting part is texting answer of questions from our mobile phones. On the other hand, they do not mentioned about this is only available on Turkcell. In addition to these, I learned Huawei producted the most tiniest smart phone of world. I think that is a good move to rise in smart phones for Huawei.

Features an Android app should have - Seval Ünver

How to use Facebook and Google accounts in Apps? - Yusuf Selçuk

Areas of HTML5 usage and Reasons- Mehmet Karabulut

Hybrid Mobile App Development - Engin Yağız Hatay

As said in this session, I think hybrid solutions are the best choice. Because HTML5 is not working fully capable without Native.

Creating outstanding Android apps - Richard Hyndman - Senior Android Developer Advocate at Google

That was a good experience for me. Generally, he mentioned about new Google techs. On the other hand, he wasn't answer question of when Google Play Store's music, video e.g. choices will be available on Turkey. Turkish developers are so excited and everyone listening him carefully.

Why hackathons are important and 8 hours are not enough - Benjamin Weiss

He mentioned about their hackathon experiences. We listened him very carefully because no one is attended to a hackathon except one or two person in the session. He thinks hackathons are so amazing. Also, he advised pizza for coders.

Second Day

Türk Telekom Session

Türk Telekom mentioned about their new Android based OS: TTDroid. They explain their reasons for developing a new OS. For example, Türk Telekom has suspicions about security of Android and according to TT Developers, most of these security problems are solved in TTDroid. Also, I won a Android Developing book in this session.

New features in Android 4.0 and Tabletization of Apps - Murat Aydın

Turkish government will use Android tablets in schools. But, they won't use Android Market because of the children care. Government will use their own market and because of that O.Madran was so concerned about their future.

Crossplatform Mobile Development with the Google Web Toolkit and Titanium4j - Alain Ekambi (English)

He can't attended this session. According to moderator, he had an car accident. Get better soon Alain Ekambi.

Native or Web App Which one? - Duygu Ağıral Ayşenur Özdemir

That session isn't satisfy me. Both are not qualified in this subject and they only read their presentation.

Creating an unique e-mail address in your own domain

A few days ago, I bought a domain as you see in address bar now, Before we started the tutorial I have to clarify one thing: You must buy a domain. It costs ~10$.
I used Google Apps for mail host. There are many options but most of them are not free and not as good as Gmail.
Firstly, you should help to Google for recognize your domain from here:
After that, you have to fill in the blanks. You don't have to have your own company. You could fill with random text. But do not remember write your desired mail address in "username" part.
Next step is changing user to user. If you have your own host, you can easily verify your domain with html method. On the other hand, if you using your domain in a blog as I'm, you have to verify with DNS method:
Select Verifying with DNS. Then, go to your DNS Host. My host firm is DNS Park. It's a free DNS redirecting service.
From DNS Hosting menu, enter your domain address. You can add TXT file which taken from Google like ,google-site-verification: google123dc1be23d1231.b.html, from here, bottom of the page.
Congratulations! First level is passed.

Then, go to your Google Apps page, enter Gmail and create your account. After, we have to do not forget DNS settings. Enter DNS Park again and enter this values:

    Order                      Mail Server

                                                                                               (Taken from Google)

Note: Don't forget to change TLS 3600 values with 300.

Your mail is ready now. But do not forget DNS changing is required a long process and you must wait at least 48 hours for steady working.

Humor education from Microsoft

When I was view Microsoft's education competencies, I found an interesting thing. In addition to all of competencies, there is one thing: humor education. I don't know humor skill can be gained with education but it looks it's an important specialty for Microsoft.
You are able to make jokes after take this courses. I believe it is a great move for Microsoft due to company's cold image. On the other hand, they have to find experts in this education process. Maybe they try to hire comedians who laughs a lots of people from every nation.
You can reach details from here.:

Eskisehir Snowball Wars

Last year, approximately 500 people are be organized via Facebook and they started a tradition: Snowball wars.
Eskisehir city which as known as student's city in Turkey is very available for that kind of youth activities. People can easily organize from Facebook. As far as I'm concidering I can't understand why that kind a potential human resource and organization skills can't be used for protest to injustice situations...

Anyway here is the Facebook activity link of 2012 January:
